The annual Christmas Parade has been rescheduled for, Thursday December 12, 2013 at 6:00 PM.

Come see Lafayette’s annual Christmas parade “A White Christmas” on Thursday, Dec 12th at 6pm. Bring the kids for candy and to see Santa ride into town, and be sure to check out all the floats in our old fashioned Christmas parade, as they compete for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in our best decorated float contest. The Christmas Parade will be televised by UCTV and hosted by Mayor Neal Florence & Mayor-elect Andy Arnold.

Lineup for the parade will begin at 4:30 PM. The parade route will begin at 512 South Main St. (Ace Hardware) and travel north on Main Street through the Square turning left onto Margaret Street to the parking lot of the LaFayette 6th Grade Academy to disband.

If your organization wishes to be a part of the parade, please complete and return the form below to the LaFayette Recreation Department, P.O. Box 189, LaFayette, GA 30728 or fax to (706) 639-0403 or scan and e-mail to recdept@cityoflafayettega.org. Cash prizes will be awarded to the first and second place best-decorated floats in three categories. Categories are Church, Individual, and Business. If your organization wishes to compete for best decorated float, be sure your organization’s name is shown on both sides of the float

. Contact Debra Bell at (706) 639-1590 after December 1st to get your staging area for the parade. Please line up in your assigned area

Please remember when planning characters for your float, Santa Claus is on the City Fire Truck and should not be included on your float. Our past parades have been a great success and with your help we can have another memorable event. Please come and join in the fun as we welcome Santa Claus to the City of LaFayette.

The LaFayette Woman’s Club will be sponsoring the Best Decorated Home Contest. Homes on Main Street will be judged for Best Christmas Decorations(Outdoor only). The winner will be announced at the Christmas Parade and will be featured in a upcoming newspaper article.
